#TOGETHER4FORESTS – CALL ON THE EU TO BAN PRODUCTS THAT DESTROY FORESTS!
2020 was one of the most devastating years ever recorded in the Amazon. In August, there were more than 29,307 fires across the Amazon region – the second-highest number in the past decade and a disaster for the climate, wildlife and people who depend on the rainforest. But the Amazon is not the only place at risk. Fires are also devastating Brazil’s Cerrado – one of the world’s most biodiverse savannas – as well as the Pantanal wetlands. Almost all the fires are deliberately started as part of a long-term plan. EU market demand for profitable products such as beef and soy also drives this destruction – the EU is the world’s second-largest market for Brazilian soy.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
The EU must take responsibility for fuelling these fires. If we want to stop forest fires, we need a strong law. This would ensure that products on supermarket shelves in the EU do not cause deforestation or the destruction of ecosystems.

The European Commission is currently asking citizens for their views on such a law. This is our only chance to have a say – and we must make our voices heard loud and clear! Will you get involved?
If you agree that we must prevent EU consumption from destroying the Amazon and other precious ecosystems, please sign as part of the #Together4Forests campaign, supported by more than 100 NGOs.
With a few clicks, you can tell the Commission that you want a law that eliminates deforestation, the destruction of nature and human rights violations from EU supply chains.
ACT NOW – DEMAND CHANGE TO PROTECT PEOPLE AND NATURE!
We need to collect more than 1 000 000 signatures by the end of the year. Please spread the word and let’s save the most valuable forests on Earth #together4forests!
