Annual Report 2025

It was a year in which nature had too little space on the public agenda, but we did not stop. We defended forests, rivers and animals and, for the first time, calculated what this protection means in oxygen: the forests saved retain a gross photosynthetic production capacity of at least 833.5 billion litres of oxygen a year, equivalent to the annual metabolic needs of approximately 3.88 million people.

  • We won four court cases with final judgments
  • We protected 36,500 hectares of forest in Domogled and Făgăraș
  • For the fifth consecutive year, we planted thousands of beech, fir and spruce seedlings in Făgăraș

Annual Report 2024

A year in which Agent Green’s efforts received worldwide recognition — founder Gabriel Păun was named UN Champion of the Earth, the United Nations’ highest environmental honour. We continued the fight to protect primary and old-growth forests, identify areas for strict protection under the EU Biodiversity Strategy, and adapt to climate change.

In 2023, Agent Green intensified campaigns to protect the Natura 2000 network, continued investigating illegal forest exploitation and advocated for the effective implementation of European environmental legislation in Romania.

Annual Report 2021

A year devoted to the fight for Romania’s national parks and stopping deforestation in protected areas. We demonstrated that the SUMAL system has serious shortcomings and proposed concrete legislative solutions to protect natural heritage.
