Vision

Romania, a country where people are united in diversity, treat nature with empathy and respect, coexist peacefully with all natural forms of life, and have reached the awareness needed to keep water, air and soil clean for future generations.

Why this vision? In the beginning, all life on the planet coexisted in harmony. It was good. But humans began using more space and resources than they needed, causing suffering both to other people and to other species. Thousands of species have already disappeared forever at human hands, and the extinction rate is rising alarmingly. Climate change threatens our existence. If our planet were a human patient taken to an emergency hospital, doctors would send it straight to intensive care.

The current situation cannot continue if we want to save human civilisation and life on Earth in general. The planet has limits, as do the resources it offers. They must be cared for, not exhausted. We must consume what we need and stop wasting precious resources. We must work with nature, not against it. Let us thank fossil fuels for helping us advance technologically, but urgently decarbonise the entire economy to save ourselves.

Positive change will happen only if every person understands this situation and acts individually to become part of the necessary change. Beyond the power and decisions of governments, individual power is at least as important. Everyone can decide what and how much to eat, how and how much to heat water and their home, and what form of energy to use for travel.

Asociația AGENT GREEN is a non-governmental, non-profit environmental protection organisation founded in Romania in February 2009 by Raluca Nicolae, Anca Șerban and Gabriel Păun. The organisation’s focus is investigating environmental crimes, exposing them strategically and promoting solutions to conserve biodiversity and ensure the wellbeing of future generations.

Tackling climate change through concrete action on energy, agriculture, transport, green cities and biomass use.

STOP GMOs

Romania’s agricultural production should be 100% GMO-free and certified organic.

Biodiversity

Protecting biodiversity by defending forests, combating trophy hunting and stopping illegal logging.

Agent Green’s principles

People Are Nature

Planet Earth is almost 5 billion years old. During that time, millions of plant and animal species evolved naturally and lived together in harmony. Humans appeared recently, less than 3 million years ago, and have always depended for their survival on other species and the planet’s resources, which they are now close to exhausting. Lacking empathy and humility, humans have become the planet’s only species to trigger a mass extinction.

People must work with nature, not against it

Nature offers the best models for all human needs. Yet humans continue trying to change and “tame” it — actions that cost more in the long term and turn against people. Nature tells us clearly and mercilessly when we get things wrong.

All species have equal rights

All forms of life must be treated with empathy and respect. Humans must not take more resources from nature than they need to survive. A gradual return to a predominantly plant-based diet is vital to save the world from hunger and reduce climate change.

Non-violence

Agent Green opposes verbal and physical violence and consistently acts in a spirit of non-violence. The organisation’s actions are always legitimate and seek to draw public and official attention to the fact that nature is not being respected.

Independence

Agent Green is not affiliated with any political party or corporation. We criticise both when they go astray and praise them when they make progress in protecting nature. Agent Green is funded exclusively by individual donations, sponsorships and foundation grants that do not in any way seek to steer the organisation’s work.
