Have questions?

Who can redirect 3.5%?
Any individual resident in Romania who pays tax on employment income — employees with an individual employment contract. Form 230 applies exclusively to tax on salary income.
Who CANNOT redirect 3.5%?

Starting with income for 2024 (under Emergency Ordinance 115/2023), cannot redirect 3.5%:

  • Self-employed persons (PFA) and owners of individual or family enterprises
  • Those earning income from liberal professions (lawyers, notaries, doctors, etc.)
  • Those earning income from copyright
  • Pensioners
  • Employees in tax-exempt sectors (IT, construction, research) — if they pay no income tax at all
Does it cost me anything extra?
No. The money is already included in the tax you paid. If you do not complete the form, the amount stays in the state budget. You pay absolutely nothing extra.
What is the deadline?
Usually 25 May of the current year, for the previous year’s income. Check ANAF’s website for any changes to the deadline.
Do I need to do this every year?
Yes, the form is submitted annually. But it is quick — it takes just a few minutes and has an enormous impact on protecting Romania’s nature.
