Forever Forest — forests without clear-cutting or hunting
Forever Forest is a forestry model developed by Agent Green, demonstrating that forests can be managed profitably without being destroyed. The first Forever Forest is in the Vrancea Mountains, Covasna County, and covers 650 hectares — 458 ha purchased in 2019, followed by a further 192 ha in 2021.
The model prohibits clear-cutting, hunting and exotic species, demonstrating that nature knows best and people need only follow its lead.
Any wooded or unwooded area can become Forever Forest.
Support this sustainable model for conserving Romania’s forests.

The 6 Forever Forest principles
1The forest is never clear-cut — only selective felling of individual trees is permitted.
2Nature knows best — people must follow its lead. Native, locally adapted tree species perform better than exotic species.
3Follow natural processes — protect and restore native species, encourage regeneration and natural selection.
4Higher profit through lower costs — mature trees accumulate more timber than young trees, increasing their commercial value.
5Old-growth forests and deadwood store more carbon — making a significant contribution to tackling climate change.
6Nobody loses — the model benefits forest owners, local communities, biodiversity and the climate alike.
General requirements
Every forest certified as Forever Forest must meet strict protection and management standards.
Enhances biodiversity, combats climate change and increases the well-being of local communities.
Added value stays in Romania — contributing to the national economy.
The recreational function is permanently guaranteed for everyone.
Human intervention following disasters is not permitted, except for fires that would engulf the entire forest.
A disaster-affected forest will not be artificially replanted for at least 10 years after the event, to allow natural regeneration.
Harvesting and regeneration rules
Once Forever Forest status is achieved, the forest is managed under strict rules that ensure the ecosystem’s continuity.
Selective felling
Only selective removal of mature trees. The maximum canopy opening must not exceed 0.3 hectares.
Natural regeneration
Natural regeneration is the main source of renewal. Planting is the exception and uses native species only.
Minimum harvesting diameters
Beech: 65 cm · Oak: 75 cm · Fir/Spruce: 45 cm · Pine/Larch: 70 cm · Sycamore maple: 55 cm · Ash: 60 cm
Standing timber volume
Must never fall below 70% of the potential volume of the forest’s tree association.
Water, soil and biodiversity
✗Hunting is prohibited.
✗Clear-cutting, burning, wetland drainage and genetically engineered trees (including CRISPR) are strictly prohibited.
✗Exotic species, monocultures, pesticides and fertilisers are strictly prohibited.
At least 10% of standing tree volume will never be harvested — it remains as stumps, nesting trees and habitat trees.
Forestry work takes place only when the soil is least vulnerable (dry or deeply frozen). Only plant-based oils are used.
Forest roads and other landscape alterations must not exceed 10% of the forest area.
Forever Forest advantages
✓Standing timber volume and the commercial value of harvested wood increase.
✓Economic benefits and profit, increased over the long term.
✓Damage caused by natural disasters (windthrow, drought, insects) decreases significantly.
✓Combats climate change, enhances biodiversity and ecosystem functions.
✓Creates opportunities for local communities to organise ecotourism.
✓Strictly protected reference areas help develop a better understanding of nature and continuous adaptation to climate change.
