Victor’s life is in danger because he chose the path of justice and truth. He was offered the chance to earn good money for a new house and a good car. But he refused to steal as his bosses proposed, because that would have tainted him, brought him into the forest mafia’s system and left him unable ever to get out. Victor is the scapegoat at the Dorna Candrenilor Forest District in Suceava County, for whom the system fabricated evidence to bring him down.
Last autumn’s raids in Suceava demand a head. And the system offers a lamb. But Victor is fighting because he respects his education, his profession, the Constitution and the forest. He reported his superiors, who allegedly caused damage of at least 200,000 euros through illegal timber in recent times.
Victor’s courage is the courage we want to see in every Romanian. Every Romanian has a moral duty to support Victor. And Romania’s justice system has a legal duty to protect his reputation, freedom and safety.
