19369.24 hectares of Domogled National Park saved!
We did it!
Through the courts this time, rather than a protest! We begin with congratulations and many thanks to our lawyer and the volunteers who brought about this huge victory, and to the donors and partners who have long supported our court cases. We have won forest cases before, but never for 19369.24 hectares of a national park, one of Romania’s most paradisiacal places, Domogled National Park. Nor do we know of this ever happening before.
Domogled National Park is BREATHING peacefully for the first time. This is only the beginning! Agent Green has won its case at the High Court of Cassation and Justice against the Ministry of Environment and Romsilva. From today, 19369.24 hectares of Domogled – Valea Cernei National Park can no longer be touched.
Anyone who sees a logging truck leaving UP Cernișoara, Baia de Aramă, Balmeș, Ivanu and Olanu is asked to notify the police immediately. The transport would be 100% ILLEGAL! The forest management plan has been suspended, along with all planned logging.
Any forestry work now constitutes a forestry offence and a breach of court judgments. We ask the Minister of Environment, Mr Costel Alexe, to order all necessary measures to ensure that Romsilva and the logging companies have already left Domogled National Park.
We will no longer see such things in at least one national park in Romania. Let us all love nature and become creative entrepreneurs, honour it through ecotourism, and enjoy its vital services and magical beauty. What if we tried it for a while, so we could all see for ourselves? That destructive or cruel industries are simply a recipe for disaster?
