Today we had the honour of representing more than 122,000 people from around the world who signed the petition to protect Romania’s paradise forests. This is an event of great significance because these forests are part of world heritage, witnesses to history, home to endangered species and unique ecosystems.
We are raising awareness of their enormous importance and calling for their immediate protection. The Romanian Government is responsible for this and must guarantee that European and Romanian legislation is respected and that logging and any other interventions will no longer be permitted. We ask Mr Costel Alexe, the environment minister, to take into account the wishes of those who signed the petition and act now to protect the paradise forests.
We symbolically gave the Ministry’s representatives a picture made with moss to bring back a little of the magic of the forests they can save every day.
